Hepasphere, A New Chemo Treatment
Known for cryo-ablation, irreversible electroporation (nano knife) and other advanced cancer treatments, Fuda Cancer Hospital is currently making waves with its microsphere embolization, a vascular interventional Chemotherapy treatment.
In November 2006, A US medicine company Biosphere Medical Inc received the FDA approval for Hepasphere, the clinical use of microsphere embolization in chemotherapy.
The technology has been widely used in the United States and Europe, and has achieved satisfactory results.
In microsphere embolization doxorubicin, irinotecan and other chemotherapeutic agents are turned into superabsorbent biocompatible gel particles. With the help of DSA imaging X-ray machine and a super micro catheter, the chemo particles are injected into the tumors where abundant blood vessels exist. The particles remain at the small arteries, blocking the tumor blood vessels and reducing nutrition supply while continuously treating the tumor.
Studies have shown that this chemotherapy technique is more effective because the drugs in the blood vessels are actively working for more than two weeks.
The clinical practices in Europe and the United States have been very promising. At present, this technique is used for various types of cancer where tumors are rich in blood vessels, like cancer of the liver, head, neck, kidney, gastrointestinal cancer massive lung cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, retroperitoneal tumor, soft tissue sarcoma, and etc.
In 2014, China’s FDA approved the clinical use of this advanced chemotherapy technique. Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital, a national key specialty cancer hospital, has completed nearly 500 cases of microspheres intervention for patients. The technique is also combined with cryo-ablation, irreversible electroporation (Nano knife) and other advanced cancer treatments.
Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital is offering a 40% discount to Filipino cancer patients until April 30, 2016. Interested parties can call 0917 775 34 26, 507 34 26 (landline) or email consultationphils@fudahospital.com or visit their business office at Rm. 407, The Linden Suites, 37 San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig.
