Being Mrs Kenny Ansis

I received an email a few minutes ago: i.ph blogs to be shut down - thewifeofkennyansis.i.ph

The Mighty Oregano

McKenzie caught the common cold which eventually developed into a bad case of cough. She coughs and coughs and would throw up. She has the appetite to eat and drink milk but she would throw up and it is causing her weight loss.

Diapers, Diapers

We’ve always used Huggies for McKenzie’s diapers. Huggies Dry during daytime, Huggies Dry Comfort at night and when going out.

Cheaper is Not Better

Cheaper is not better. As a mom, I am always on the lookout for good deals (read: cheaper) especially in supermarkets. I take time to compare and compute. But too much of a good deal is not always good. I’ve been using Cycles Mild Laundry Detergent even before McKenzie was born. I’ve used it to wash her tiny clothes, diapers, booties, mittens, bibs and beddings. Its hypoallergenic and baby friendly ingredients makes it suitable for my little McKenzie’s skin. Our helper, Manang Josie, tells me how she loves using it for McKenzie’s clothes— “mabula kahit kaunti lang ilagay mo” and “mabango”. Last week though, while grocery shopping at Shopwise Festival Mall , I came across this new product, Smart Steps Baby Laundry Detergent . It is cheaper than Cycles (almost 50% cheaper, I think) and it looked okay. After discussing it with Manang Josie, we both decided to give it a try. The next day, Manang told me how disappointed she was with Smart Steps : “Yung Cy...

Excited to Blog Again

I’ve had several blogs in the past. Busy schedule always hindered me from keeping them up to date. But, I decided a few weeks back that I want to start blogging again. It took me a long time to come up with a name though. I want to blog about things I come across in my life right now- a work at home mommy. I want to share about the things I am learning about motherhood, kids, working at home, housekeeping, product reviews, etc. There’s a myriad of things that I want to blog about and I want to keep them in one place, thus, this blog.

McKenzie Loves Books!

McKenzie loves books. She has a handful of board books (mostly sesame street) which we put inside her Barney backpack (she got this from her cousin shade’s party). Every morning when she wakes up, she will point at the bag, asking us to give it to her. She will get out her books one by one and read them. She also puts them back in the bag when it’s time to go downstairs for breakfast.

Cute Little Elmo Rockstar Ballerina

McKenzie’s birthday theme was Elmo. We had to go with Jollibee’s theme for the other decors. It’s a good thing Elmo’s colors blended well with that of Jollibee’s. She was dressed like a ballerina rockstar- black spandex elmo dress with a colorful skirt, orange tutu, black stockings, chuck taylor shoes. When it got too cold in the party room, she wore her velvet black elmo jacket, she really looked like a ballerina!

Mommy, Daddy and McKenzie

7 months and 20 days since McKenzie arrived and radically changed our life. Those past months, I’ve been meaning to update my blog, post updates and all, but motherhood requires more than 24 hours a day… add to that the hours that we need to spend working and doing household chores. McKenzie is a very sweet baby. She tends to have separation anxiety but is doing good in her social interactions. Just today, she was able to call Kenny “addy” (daddy). I can’t remember the first time she said “ammy” (mommy)… but that must’ve been 2 months ago. At 7 months, she is able to sit on her own, stand up with support, eat solid food, converse and laugh with us. This early, we’ve started planning her 1st birthday. I hope I could be religious in updating this blog. I would love to come back someday and read about Me, Kenny and McKenzie!

She’s already here

Our baby, McKenzie Cayenne Javier Ansis has been with us for six weeks and four days now. I wasn’t able to blog during the last weeks of my pregnancy until I gave birth because I was busy with a lot of things, having lost a helper at home. How I gave birth to McKenzie: 08.20.2010 Around 1am- Kenny was on his way home from work and I was working at home late. Bloody show in urine twice. Around 230am- the amount of blood increased and we decided to call my doctor, Dra Judith Galang-Perez, who advised that we need to go to Las Pinas Doctors Hospital right away. Everything was already packed, my bag, baby’s and kenny’s as well so we were on our way around 230am. Contractions became stronger while we were on the road. Around 315am- Kenny dropped me off to the hospital’s ER. I calmly handed over my doctor’s instructions to the nurse on duty. The contractions were unbearable and I even refused to lie down as to me the pain is less when I am standing up. The OB Gyne on duty...

Two Countdowns

I have 2 countdowns- 71 days before my EDD 7 days before our baby shower. Seeing those little baby stuff really makes me happy. We went to Rustan’s last tuesday to sign up for their registry and looks like 3 people already availed of the items. I’ve received several items for the baby already: 6 cloth diapers, a pair of booties, a gift from Ken’s boss and according to Madg, his gift will get here today via Air 21. Excited me much!!! Even baby is excited, she has shown regular activity since we had the ultrasound done.

21 Weeks and 3 days

Baby is now 21 Weeks and 3 days old inside my tummy. Yesterday, I had him/ her listen to Baby Brain IQ & EQ Booster music and he/she moved! Not sure if it’s because he/she loved it or disturbed by it. I’ve been working at home full time for almost a month now. Kenny started with his new work as an Aircraft Scheduler.

16 weeks and 1 day

Baby is now 16 weeks and 1 day inside my tummy. We’re almost halfway through the journey. We had our check up with Dra Judith Galang Perez on March 2 and we heard the fetal heartbeat!!! It was an awesome experience, we were speechless. Yesterday, we attended a wonderful wedding in 1 Esplanade and was able to get a good view of the pyro olympics. I wish to do it again someday when baby already knows how to appreciate such things.

Announcement and Back Pains

Today, we officially announced our pregnancy by posting PT results and ultrasound pictures via Facebook. A lot of well-wishers. I’ve also started to experience pain in my lower back starting yesterday. My friends in the office told me it’s normal and it only means that my body is adjusting to the growth of the baby. I read some nice pointers about managing the pain from Baby Center : What can I do to avoid back pain? • Start an exercise program to stretch and strengthen muscles that support the back and legs, including your abdominal muscles. Be careful to stretch gently because stretching too quickly or too much can put further strain on your joints, which have been made looser by pregnancy. Swimming is a great exercise option for pregnant women because it strengthens your abdominal and lower back muscles, and the buoyancy of the water takes the strain off your joints and ligaments. Pelvic tilts can also help (see below). • Stand up straight. This...
